I am dedicated to helping students apply cognitive science and mindfulness to improve their capacity and enjoyment of learning. I love to support students with science, math, and reading, and have a particular interest in supporting the needs of students who experience anxiety.

How did UplyftEd come to be?

I experience anxiety. For a long time, I didn't know what to call it. In school, I would grip my pencils so tight during writing assignments that I'd have to shake out my aching fingers every few minutes. I'd get headaches and feel exhausted after every test. In English classes, my heart would race hoping that the chapter would end before it was my turn to read to the group.

My teachers never knew the difference. I was a studious enough kid, making excellent grades and playing sports. On the outside, I was a high-functioning student. On the inside, it was a churning storm, and I was pretty good at hiding it. It didn't seem to affect me too much. That is until I began to experience panic attacks in my adult life.

It took me over 20 years to realize that my experiences of clinched teeth, cramped hands, and headaches in grade school were the root of something that isn't abnormal, but which is often overlooked in our formative years: Learning Anxiety.
Uplyft Education brings to life my mission to help students of all ages put mindfulness at the forefront of their learning so that their potential for growth is at its best and their anxiety is at a minimum.

Do you study inefficiently or seem to waste your own time?

Are you anxious when you take tests or have a time limit?

Do you lose sleep because of grades or expectations about your performance?

I can help you with my expertise in science, math, and reading combined with my knowledge of the social and emotional needs of students.

I am a master-level teacher who specializes in helping people of all ages to apply cognitive science, systems thinking, and mindfulness to renew their sense of purpose and develop an effective balance between life and school. I coach my clients to utilize both their heads and their hearts. Specifically, through my courses and coaching sessions a student will learn to:

  1. Enhance their approach to learning by discovering their own mind and explore the way people think, read, listen, and learn

  2. Re-frame their sense of purpose as an agent of positive change by embracing the role of a leader in their own learning path.

  3. Establish healthy boundaries by maintaining a life-work balance that will reduce anxiety, avoid burnout, and prepare them to maximize their positive impact on the lives of everyone they meet.
